Prospective students
We have accommodation types to suit all our students, so you will find a home that meets your personal needs.
- Undergraduate
- Postgraduate and mature students
- Special requirements and care leavers
- International students
We offer four types of accommodation
- University managed residences (Bramall Court and Charlotte Court)
- University partnership residences
- Private sector housing
- Homestays or accommodation with a family
All University allocated residences (1 and 2) are furnished with standard bedroom furniture unless otherwise stated. This includes a bed, wardrobe, a desk or workstation and a chair. Some bedrooms have a wash basin. Not all rooms have an en suite – these facilities do cost extra.
You can buy very reasonably priced bedding, kitchen utensils and crockery in Sheffield if you don't want to bring these with you.
All allocated residences enforce a strict non-smoking policy, in line with the University's non-smoking policy.
See the location of all our residences on our location map.
If you'd like to view some of our owned, managed or partnership residences, visit our open days – where you'll get a taste of what life is like living in university accommodation. If you can't make one of our open days, contact us and we'll put you in touch with the accommodation manager or landlord of the property you'd like to visit to arrange a convenient time to view the property.
First semester study students
We're unable to offer accommodation in our owned, managed or partnership residences if you're only undertaking first semester study. But we can give you help and advice in seeking private sector accommodation.
When you apply online for accommodation, choose 'private sector housing' as your first and second choice and indicate clearly in the notes section that you're a first semester student.
You'll then be sent information on how to book onto our househunting week.
There are many different types of accommodation available in Sheffield to suit all requirements.
We recognise that as a mature or postgraduate student, you may not want to live in a hall of residence with undergraduate students. You may prefer to live in a bedsit where you have your own cooking facilities, or a private sector house with your partner or family.
Should you choose to live in private sector accommodation you should still apply online.
Whatever your needs, our experience and knowledge enables us to offer a free service that addresses your specific requirements and ensures that you find the most suitable accommodation.
