Join Sheffield Hallam University alumni?
Any former student of Sheffield Hallam University, the Sheffield City Polytechnic or our founding colleges is automatically a member of our alumni for life and entitled to access a range a special alumni benefits.

Join Alumni Connect Plus?
Alumni Connect Plus is a free upgrade to your alumni membership. It’s available to all alumni of Sheffield Hallam and founding colleges and member benefits include
- being able to find and contact old classmates and alumni directly
- online professional and regional networks
- updating personal details online
- arranging email forwarding from your new Sheffield Hallam alumni address

Join the mailing list for the Alumni E-Connect newsletter?
If we have your up-to-date email address, you should automatically receive Alumni E-Connect every three months. If you’re not receiving the newsletter you can update your email address by logging in to Alumni Connect Plus (or joining for free), selecting ‘Update my details’ and changing the email address on record there.
Still not receiving the newsletter every quarter? You may have previously opted out of University communications. If so, log on to Alumni Connect Plus, select ‘My profile’, click on ‘Data protection options’ and untick the option ‘Opt out of email communications’.
Request a new certificate if I've lost or damaged my original?
What you need to do next depends on the year that you graduated and the certificate you require.
If you graduated between 1992 and the present, we can supply a duplicate. There is an administration fee of £35 and we aim to process the replacement within 10 working days, once payment has cleared.
If you graduated before 1992 at Sheffield City Polytechnic, you'll need to get in touch with the awarding body directly.

Request a duplicate transcript if I've lost my original?
In order to obtain a duplicate transcript please download a request form. Please note that there is an administrative charge for this service. See request form for details. However, if you still have your login for My Student Record you now have the facility to print your own.

Request a reference?
In order to obtain a reference from a member of staff you will need to contact the helpdesk of your former faculty. Contact your faculty to make a request.
Request verification of my degree?
As a former student, you can download and fill in the verification form.
Employers and agencies will need to register with the Higher Education Degree Databank at www.hedd.ac.uk. They can then verify your degree in real time by choosing Sheffield Hallam from the list of UK Higher Education institutions and choosing the Verify a degree award option. Enquirers are charged a £10 fee per enquiry.

Request my alumni ID number?
Your alumni ID number identifies you as one of the alumni of Sheffield Hallam, Sheffield City Polytechnic and founding colleges. It is not the same as your former student ID number. Recent graduates will have been sent an alumni ID number by email.
If you haven’t been sent your alumni ID or can’t find it, simply email the Alumni Connect team at alumni@shu.ac.uk to request yours. Please include the following details in your email so that we can find you on our database
- full name
- date of birth
- subject of study
- year of graduation
We'll get back in touch with your alumni ID number as quickly as possible.
Request my Alumni Connect Plus username or password?
If you’ve not registered for Alumni Connect Plus, register for free.
If you’ve forgotten your password for accessing Alumni Connect Plus, go to the forgotten password page and type in your user name.
If you’ve forgotten your username, you can contact alumni@shu.ac.uk and request your password again, stating your full name, date of birth, subject of study and year of graduation.
Request another copy of my graduation book?
To find out if you can purchase another copy of your graduation book, contact the Graduation Office by email at graduation@shu.ac.uk, or by phone +44 (0)114 225 5353. Availability is often subject to how long ago you graduated.
Access my alumni details and preferences?
To update your personal or business details with the alumni team and community, first log in to your Alumni Connect Plus account, (or sign up now for free). Then choose 'update your details' on the right-hand side of the page to edit your details.
Access Shuspace now I've graduated?
Once you have received your final results, you will no longer have access to Shuspace. However you can access other services after graduation. Your email account is available for one year after you have completed your course, although it will become read-only after only two months. Also, your My Student Record is available for up to five years after completing your studies.
Access the University library?
As an alumni member you can still access the University learning centre facilities at Collegiate and City campuses. Alumni living locally and if your address includes a postcode for Sheffield, the neighbouring town of Doncaster or the counties of Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire can also register to become external borrowers for free.

Another good way of keeping up to date with upcoming events is by joining one of the specialist networks on offer – available to you when you become a member of Alumni Connect Plus. As a network member you be emailed with relevant news and upcoming events in your sector.
Find alumni to invite to a reunion?
We can contact Sheffield Hallam graduates on your behalf by sending invitations or letters to former students on our alumni database by post or email. Simply tell us who you'd like to contact, send us an invitation or letter to copy with your reply address and we'll take care of the mailing and postage costs (subject to numbers).
Find former classmates and other alumni in my region or industry?
If you’re a member of Alumni Connect Plus you can easily get in touch with old classmates and network with other alumni. (Join for free if you’re not a member). Simply log on, then and make use of the 'Find a classmate' and 'Professional directory' tools.
Find Sheffield Hallam University gifts and merchandise?
You can find a range of Sheffield Hallam University items, including clothing, accessories and glassware, at the University gift shop.

If you're an Alumni Connect Plus member, log in to your account (or register now for free), then click on 'My Profile' and then click on ‘Data protection options’. Here you can select to opt in or out of any communications with Sheffield Hallam University.
