Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University
The fine art department at Sheffield Hallam University is one of the oldest established art institutions in the UK, founded in 1843 as The Sheffield School of Art.
We are particularly proud of the research culture that has been nurtured here. All our academic staff work as practising artists and currently our Art and Design Research Centre is regarded as one of Britain's leading centres for research in the creative disciplines of fine art, design and media production in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).This level of research quality and breadth ensures that the academic staff deliver professional level skills and industry relevant information to all students on our courses.
We have continued to invest in providing some of the best workshop and lab facilities in the country and we provide flexible studio spaces to ensure you'll be working in a highly creative environment surrounded by other artists.
In brief, we have two goals. For you to reach your creative potential whilst you are studying with us and that you are fully prepared to successfully apply your creativity when it is time to leave us.
I look forward to meeting you.
