Profile

David Chow's first degree was in Architecture and he subsequently spent several years working in architects' offices and also a year in France. He then undertook a second undergraduate degree in building services engineering in 2001 and was awarded a number of student prizes.

In 2005 he completed his PhD with a thesis on the Effects of Future Climate Change and Near-Extreme Weather on Office Buildings in the UK. His work included the analyses of future weather data under various scenarios in order to support computer modelling of office building heating and cooling demand.

After his PhD, David continued to research on topics relating to climate change and the built environment, as well as running the distance learning MSc programme in Sustainable Electrical Building Services Engineering at the University of Manchester. He was awarded CEng status in 2006 from the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

David joined Sheffield Hallam University in July 2006 as Senior Lecturer, teaching environmental modules and brings an almost unique combination of knowledge and understanding that crosses the architecture-engineering boundary.
