Yalp

The client

Yalp, producers of the lassi drink of the same name

The challenge

Two Leeds-based entrepreneurs, Hayley Hadfield and Laurence Nair Price, developed Yalp, a drink using 100 per cent natural ingredients, including fresh yoghurt, and based on a traditional Indian recipe which helps to aid digestion. They needed a brand image creating for their product.

What we did

Yalp approached Sheffield Hallam's Design Futures team to devise the packaging for the drink. Our creative heads developed a branding that reflected the fun element of the product, giving people something to talk about and engage with, at the same time as creating an image of natural quality and good value.

The results

Yalp were very pleased with the work of Design Futures. The drink went on sale in all 382 Morrisons stores, with the supermarket taking 10,000 bottles a week. The next target for distribution is universities and discussions are underway with a number of possible outlets.

  • John Kirkby (Design Futures) showcases Yalp packaging

Yalp are developing new flavours, and have asked the Design Futures team to develop the packaging designs for those as well.

They say

"Design Futures have been integral to creating a finished product with high definition and striking appearance on the shelf. From day one the team have been professional and shown great commitment to our project. They are great people to work with!"
