Mentor a student

Our students benefit from working with businesses across South Yorkshire. By mentoring a student, you can really help them to develop and give them a fresh perspective and insight on the demands of the modern workplace.

It's easy to become a mentor – all you need to do is share your knowledge and advise a student on a specific subject or industry sector.

Enterprise Challenge

One way you might become a mentor is through our Enterprise Challenge business start-up competition. We regularly invite volunteers from local companies to advise students who enter the competition on issues that they may not have encountered before, like how to manage a budget or build a viable business plan.

Career mentoring scheme

The University's mentoring scheme encourages businesses to use their skills, experience and knowledge to support a student as they make decisions about their future career. If you don't currently recruit graduates, this could be a chance to see how they might benefit your company.

Organisations who have offered mentors in previous years include BT, Inland Revenue, South Yorkshire Police and Yorkshire Water.

Further information can be found on our Careers and Employment Service web page.
