What if I get better results than required?
Your place at your first choice university will be confirmed automatically you do not have to do anything. You can view this on UCAS Track.
However, if you achieve better grades than required for your firmly accepted offer, you may want to look for an alternative course that has places available, whilst still holding your original choice. This is known as Adjustment.
Adjustment is entirely optional, and not everyone who is eligible will want to try to find an alternative place. Nothing really beats the careful research to find the right courses for the original application.
If you cannot find a place on an alternative course through Adjustment you will still have your original university place.

If you want to try to find an alternative course you must register with UCAS to use Adjustment so universities and colleges can view your application. You can contact UCAS by visiting Track, or on 0871 468 0468.
The Adjustment period
Adjustment is available from A Level results day (16 August 2012) until 31 August 2012. From this time you will have five calendar days (five 24 hour periods) to register and secure an alternative course, if you decide this is what you want to do. Please note that you cannot apply for Adjustment before A Level results day (16 August 2012).
Please note that it is advisable to call the universities you are interested in applying to, this is to ensure that they have places on the course of your choice before you register for Adjustment.
If you are holding a place at Sheffield Hallam University but want to change courses then please contact us directly rather than applying through Adjustment.
