Henna's story
BA (Honours) Politics
'My careers advisor helped me figure out how to get experience for the career I want to work in, and she gave me the confidence to put myself forward for roles I wouldn't have considered before.
'She suggested working abroad and helped me identify an internship with the Embassy of Pakistan in the Hague for six months which I've already completed.
'She also suggested that I should apply for a civil service fast stream internship which I'm looking forward to starting soon. There was a lot of competition for it, but the careers service helped me improve my application form skills and interview techniques, and practice for the assessment centre.
'Through the opportunities offered by the University, I think I've been able to get the experience and employability skills that will help me stand out when I graduate. '
