Enterprise Challenge is our annual business start-up competition. Entrants have the chance to win cash and business support to help them start their own businesses.
This year's competition winners were announced at a dinner in October attended by local dignitaries and industry partners. They were presented their prizes by guest speaker Julie Kenny CBD DL, chair and chief executive of Pyronix Limited and Vitalise Business Woman of the Year 2013.
2008 BSc (Hons) Sport Science with Coaching graduate Sarah Livesey took first place winning £5,000. Her business Freestyle Swimwear produces speciality swimwear focusing on body coverage, allowing people to feel comfortable and confident in a product that is stylish and easy to swim in. She also picked up the prize for best manufacturable product and first place for the audience's choice.
Fine art graduates Jonathan Drury and Katie Owens from Sheffield Spreads Ltd came in second with their range of nutritious, luxury spreads and drinks. Claire Turner and Elizabeth Poxon from Landlord Letting Network Ltd took third place for their local letting agency that specialises in letting properties on behalf of landlords to tenants who are claiming welfare benefits.
