Helping you become self–employed
If your ambition is to become self–employed, you don't have to get there on your own. Because we'll help you make it happen.
As a Sheffield Hallam student – or a graduate from the last five years – you have free access to our specialist business knowledge and resources to improve your chances of success.
Last year, we supported almost 600 students with their business ventures.
You could benefit from
- one-to-one specialist advice
- generous start-up grants and funding
- free 24/7 office facilities in the Hatchery
- workshops and networking events
- support for international graduates
- the chance to win £5,000 through the Enterprise Challenge Competition
Where do I start?
We offer help to any Sheffield Hallam student or graduate from the last five years, interested in or already working for themselves. If you have an idea or are already making money - whether that's freelancing, contract work or running your own business – and are looking for support to help you along, then you need to tell us!
You start at the introduction to self-employment session which is held every Tuesday at 4pm in the Careers and Employability Centre on city campus and lasts around one hour. There is no need to book and you can attend any week you are free.
Here you can meet a member of the Enterprise Team and talk through your idea, no matter what stage you are at. We will also explain the services that can support and benefit you to be your own boss and answer any of your questions.
