Uni Verse for Schools Poetry Competition 2012
Are you passionate about creative writing? Do you enjoy writing poems and would like to share your work and have it displayed in your school or college? Sheffield Hallam University, in collaboration with Waterstone's, are inviting young people to take part in a regional poetry competition to discover young writing talent and encourage you to pursue and develop your writing skills.
If you enter this competition you will have the chance to
- gain an insight into the skills needed to write poetry via a workshop at the University
- gain feedback on your work from a judging panel made up of professional writers and staff and students at the University
- meet other young poets and professionals at a prize-giving event
- have your work exhibited in public and at your own school or college.
Prizes
1st prize: £50 book voucher
2nd prize: £30 book voucher
3rd prize: £20 book voucher
The winning three entries will also be printed on canvas and will be displayed in the
Orchard Square branch of Waterstone's in Sheffield, before being available to display in
your school or college.
All entrants will be invited to the prize-winners event, where the three winning poems will be recited, along with the winning poems from the University's own poetry competition for staff and students.
