Advanced Professional Development / Advancing Professional Practice Framework
The Advanced Professional Development / Advancing Professional Practice framework is for professionals in health, social care, sport and biosciences who wish to continue their professional development in a way that is relevant to their personal career aspirations.
You can work towards a postgraduate certificate, postgraduate diploma or full Masters award in Advanced Professional Development / Advancing Professional Practice.
The framework comprises over 150 modules. This allows you to tailor a course which will help you to progress into more advanced roles.
The modules fall into three main categories
- Modules to develop your professional skills and knowledge. These are modules which capitalise on the specialist practice skills and knowledge of a range of professions in subject areas within the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing. They are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required of an advanced practitioner.
- Modules to support your role development. These cover generic, often inter-professional areas of knowledge, such as management and leadership, service user involvement, mentoring and case management.
- Research, academic and teacher or trainer skills. These modules are designed to develop your confidence as a researcher. They include research methods modules and a dissertation module for the final Masters award.
The Framework allows you to 'build your own' postgraduate route. You will plan your choice of modules in discussion with an academic tutor and, ideally, your line manager. You will be advised by a subject specialist of any 'essential' modules required to meet professional body stipulations for named roles.
