LBR funding

Learning Beyond Registration (LBR) is the name used for specialist education funded by regional NHS strategic health authorities to provide non-medical and NHS professionals with courses and modules (subject to their eligibility). The aim is to provide healthcare staff with education courses that are a key priority for the workforce delivery of their respective Trusts.

Applicants are required to gain authorisation from their Trusts through their Trust LBR Lead (Yorkshire and the Humber). Your Trust will have a LBR application process and procedure which you will need to follow in consultation with your line manager and Trust LBR Lead to gain Trust approval for your application.

You can then apply for funding by downloading and completing all parts of the LBR application form, in consultation with your line manager and Trust LBR Lead.

For NHS employees who are funded through LBR funding, separate funding levels apply - please speak to the LBR lead person within your trust for more details. More information can be found on the LBR funding page and you can also download LBR application forms.

2011/2012 LBR funding for NHS East Midlands staff has now been 80 per cent allocated. Therefore we will only be authorising LBR funding for priority one staff who are NHS employed. We are no longer funding priority two healthcare staff, from voluntary and charitable organisations, GP practices and other independent organisations.

A further announcement will be made when priority two staff in East Midlands can apply for 2012/2013 LBR funding.

Funded places for end of life care staff

In conjunction with the NHS in the East Midlands, we are offering extra funded places on modules for people who provide end of life care. This includes people working in community services and care homes.

We offer a number of undergraduate and postgraduate level modules on this funding scheme.
