Meet our people

Gideon Nimako
MSc Computer and Network Engineering
After my BSc at the University of Cape Coast-Ghana, I wanted to find the UK university that was best in my area of study for a Masters degree. All through my applications and admissions, Sheffield Hallam was the first to offer assistance and replies - both the international and admission teams make you feel you are a valued individual.
Student and Academic Services, Accommodation Services and the International Office all helped me to settle in quickly. Sheffield is a wonderful place to study - it's a real student city and I've made lots of friends from different countries. Apart from missing the sun back home, everything is perfectly set - the campus, town and accommodation provide all I need.

MA Banking and Finance
I have always wanted to do my Masters in the UK. Nevertheless, the thought of leaving my family and going to another country filled me with apprehension. When I arrived all these feelings vanished as the staff and student ambassadors were friendly and convinced me that my stay was going to be a pleasant one.
From the content of the course and my experience in the UK, I will be armed with knowledge that I will take back to my home country to try and make a difference. I have made lots of friends and it excites me to know that after completing this course, I will have former classmates from all over the globe.

Adwoa Baah
MSc Project Management
To pursue my ambition, I couldn't have chosen a better university than Sheffield Hallam University. The University creates a wonderful atmosphere which enables students to acquire knowledge, skill and practical experience.
When I arrived, I seemed lost for a moment but not for long - we were warmly received by the International Student Support team who helped us to find accommodation and settle in.
Life in Sheffield is great. I live 10 minutes from the University and found a part time job just across the street. I do not have to spend money on transportation because the campus, church and work are walking distance from home.

MA Banking and Finance
After deciding to pursue my postgraduate studies in the UK, Sheffield Hallam emerged as the university with the programme that best suited my dreams. My decision was also influenced by the fact that the University participates in the Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme (CSSS).
Though my course is very challenging, it has made me more confident than ever. It is well structured, and very practical. A combination of an ultra-modern library, state of the art IT network and other facilities makes learning an enjoyable experience. Lecturers are more than ready to help students with academic and other problems, and the lecture rooms are spacious and well equipped.
