Before I came to Sheffield Hallam, I was worried about moving into a different culture and didn't know quite what to expect. On my first day I met a fellow Nigerian student - he went with me to the induction and we have become good friends.
The best thing about Sheffield is the low cost of living compared to other UK cities. The people are very friendly and there is always someone to help you. It is a great environment for study and the University's facilities are excellent. The International Student Support Team helped me get my visa extension and I also used netWORK to find a part-time job. All these services have made me feel more confident and valued as a student.

While coming to study in the UK, I had several things going through my mind - the accommodation; the people and getting the necessary support. However with the support from the International Student Support Team, I was able to settle into both the University and my studies faster than I thought I would.
Sheffield Hallam University is such a good school of choice for international students intending to study here in the UK as they provide the entire necessary student support - be it academic, religious; accommodation or even career services.

My main worry about coming to the UK and Sheffield Hallam University was of my safety and security and I worried that the people would not be friendly. However I found Sheffield to be a very friendly, welcoming city with both architectural and natural beauty. The best aspects of Sheffield Hallam University are the environment which allows you to integrate easily, knowing that people genuinely care and are willing to help.
I have used the free English Classes provided by Sheffield Hallam University and found them to be helpful. The International Student Support Team in the Student and Learning Services Department were also very knowledgeable and friendly.

The teaching method here is beyond lectures and seminars - it goes as far as putting students in a real world situation where you are given the opportunity to put your acquired knowledge into use. I have also been lucky to be selected as a member of a group of student delegates who will be representing the university in Germany for a European Union conference on global perspective.
The staff team was always there to give me the support that I need, from accommodation to immigration advice which includes visa extension and all other visa related issues, use of library materials and all assistance where necessary.
