Working in the UK
Many students work part-time throughout their studies for extra money. If you are studying with a Tier 4 General Student visa, you may work part-time for up to 20 hours a week during term time and full-time in vacation time. You must demonstrate that you have sufficient finances and that you wish to work for experience and not for financial reasons.
If you are studying with a Student Visitor visa, you are not allowed to work at all. EU nationals may work unlimited hours.
You may find it difficult to gain part-time work which relates to your course. Students often work in restaurants, bars, shops and call centres. We can help you find work through our employment service, which advertises local part-time jobs.
