Dr Christine Ferris
Principal Lecturer (Diagnostic Radiography) and International Business Manager for the Faculty of Health and Wellbeing
I would advise anyone wishing to study at Sheffield Hallam University to research their chosen course of study carefully and identify how it will help in their chosen career pathway.
-
Elaine Brookes
Assistant Dean Academic and Portfolio Development for Faculty of Health and Wellbeing
My advice to students would be to be very clear about the subject you wish to study and contact us directly if you have any doubts.
-
David Graham
Principal Lecturer Hospitality Management and International Business Development for Africa and the Middle East
My advise to students is bring or buy warm clothing and be prepared for the cold weather. Organise your time so that you are able to engage with the reading that your tutor gives you, always make notes of texts that you have read and write down the reference for future use…… you will never remember where it came from.
-
Nicola Dennis
International Marketing Manager
My advice would be to find a course which is focused on industry needs and what is required in the work place to really support your career development. When you are here make use of our location and see as much of the UK as possible.
-
Elaine Millington
International Development Administrator
My role is to provide support to the recruitment and marketing teams for travel, incoming visits and agent liaison. I also support the scholarship programme within International Development.
My advice would be to remember to prepare well for the cultural changes when you come to the UK, especially think about the differences in our food and the weather. Also remember to apply for your scholarship before the deadline.

Hamad Abulaaj, Libya
Msc Construction Management
As you might expect, the cultural difference between the UK and Libya is great and it takes some time to get used to it. There is a sizeable Libyan and Arab community in Sheffield and it has been very useful for myself and my family to meet other Libyans and has made settling in easier.
