We welcome students, businesses and academic partners from South East Asia, and we look forward to you becoming part of our exciting University community.
Sheffield has a well established and large Asian community. It is home to several mosques, temples and community centres along with Asian clothes and food stores, markets and restaurants. Sheffield also hosts several multi-cultural festivals throughout the year.
Sheffield Hallam University has the largest number of Malaysian students in the UK. We also have an office based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia that can provide advice on studying at the University. The office covers the whole of South East Asia and its representatives regularly visit countries within the region. For more information visit the Malaysia page.

Meet our people

Neng Lee Sin, Malaysia
MSc International Business and Management
I felt excited that I would be able to study in the UK for my degree course (summer top up, TARC).
The way we learn at Sheffield Hallam University is totally different from TARC. We can meet a lot of international students from different countries and learn a lot about their culture and beliefs. It is a great experience and a good chance to get to know each other.
I will be more confident when I get a job in the future due to my experience at Sheffield Hallam University.

When I arrived in Sheffield, I was impressed by the location and facilities of Sheffield Hallam University. It is situated in a good location which is easy to find, with lots of shops, restaurants and theatres, and is close to the bus and train stations. It's also close to the Peak District National Park and I enjoy travelling around the small villages.
I'm a PhD student so I've got my own desk and computer. This is very convenient for me to focus on my studies. The library facilities also provide me with access to useful resources.

It is the first time I have been abroad but I think it is easy to live in Sheffield because there is a nice city and suitable environment for study.
All staff are really helpful and passionate to help me. Accommodation is very good and quite cheap.
I feel comfortable studying at Sheffield Hallam University
