Meet our people

Neng Lee Sin
MSc International Business and Management
I felt excited that I would be able to study in the UK for my degree course (summer top up, TARC).
The way we learn at Sheffield Hallam University is totally different from TARC. We can meet a lot of international students from different countries and learn a lot about their culture and beliefs. It is a great experience and a good chance to get to know each other.
I will be more confident when I get a job in the future due to my experience at Sheffield Hallam University.

International students really shouldn't worry about coming to the UK - it's very easy to adapt to the way of life.
The best thing I've found about Sheffield is that the people here are very friendly and helpful. The main difference to where I'm from is the weather - it's great to be able to see the four seasons.
I believe everybody will find the learning centre extremely well equipped and Blackboard has also been invaluable - it means I have instant access to course materials and extra information that helps me with my studies.

I chose to do my Masters at Sheffield Hallam University because I was offered a course fee which no other universities in the UK could. The course I took was excellent because it extended my skills towards the IT world, which compliments my already acquired skills from the course I took earlier.
The educators are very experienced and they strive to make the lectures, tutorials and lab sessions easier to be understood by the students. Even after my graduation, staff from the University are still in contact with me and are giving me advice in delivering my job.

When I first came to Sheffield I was worried that I would not make friends as quickly as if I were in Malaysia. However, after my first day I realised that this was not going to be a problem - there are many international students in Sheffield so I did not feel alone.
Education here is very different to Malaysia where we are somewhat spoon-fed, for example being given the notes for a lecture. Here you have to write your own notes and find information from the internet, books or TV - these skills are useful at work where you will have to be a lot more independent and find your own resources.
