Sport and Recreation Services based within the Facilities Directorate, is looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for sport to provide operational support at the new Sheffield Hallam University Sports Park. The Sports Park represents a multi-million pound investment by the University in sports facilities operating in partnership with internal and external stakeholders and aims to provide leading sport facilities for students, staff and the wider community.
You will assist the Operations Manager in the day to day operation of the Sports Park which is due for completion in September 2013. Key responsibilities include the efficient and effective delivery of services across the Sport Park, supervision of the on-site team, in addition to giving an excellent customer experience to every user of the facility.
You will need to be a flexible team player with the ability to deliver and exceed the expectations of a variety of internal and external users, coaches and National Governing Bodies (NGB's). An ability to plan, organise and prioritise your workload and the workload of others, in addition to using initiative to resolve unforeseen circumstances, is also crucial. Strong IT skills would be beneficial as the site will operate a leisure based booking system.
The Sports Park will be supported by central services both within Sport, FD and the wider University. It is essential that you have experience of working in a sporting environment and that you are able to demonstrate a commitment and interest in sport and fitness. It is expected that you will be a fully qualified first aider (or willing to gain this qualification) to ensure the safe and effective delivery of services at the Sports Park.
The site will operate with staff working a combination of morning, evening and weekend work. Hours will be fixed from week to week but flexibility is a requirement of the role to cater for peaks in business need. This may be through an annualised hours arrangement.
This is a fantastic opportunity if you wish to work in the sport sector and for a University with an excellent reputation in sport. For an informal discussion about the post, contact Dan Porter on 0114 225 4395 or John Wagstaff on 0114 225 4452.
If you are offered this post you will be subject to Enhanced criminal records check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
