Location/transport

Our City Campus is right in the middle of Sheffield, with main railway, bus and coach stations as next door neighbours. The city's £240 million Supertram system has brought quiet and clean public transport of the highest order to the city's streets.

Sheffield has a range of pubs you'd expect from a major city, many serving a selection of hand pulled beers and home made food. The city also has a fine selection of Asian, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Greek, African, French, Thai, South American and Caribbean restaurants in the city, among others.

Shopping

Sheffield has its share of big high street chains but you'll also find, lively open air markets, a bohemian quarter of 'alternative' shops and cafes and Europe's largest shopping complex at Meadowhall.

In the centre of Sheffield access to The Moor Shopping Centre, Orchard Square and Fargate ensure that you are never far away from a wide variety of shops.

Art galleries and museums

Sheffield's art scene is very active and galleries include our own exhibition spaces where visiting exhibitions and student work alike can be found. Elsewhere you'll find a range of spaces, including the award winning Ruskin Gallery, the unique Kelham Island Industrial Museum and the new Millennium Galleries, which hosts Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate Gallery exhibitions.

Apart from the nationally recognised Crucible and Lyceum Theatres, you'll discover an explosive mix of music, dance, theatre and club events at the Leadmill Arts Centre. Comedy is also big in the city with stand up stars visiting Sheffield City Hall on tour and up and coming new comics at regular, pub-based venues.

The 'Sheffield Cultural Industries Quarter' is an area of concentrated creative production which is internationally renowned for innovation and design.

Sport and leisure

Sheffield has two football teams, a successful Rugby League team, premier league men's and women's basketball teams and a speedway team. Facilities for sport are excellent with swimming and diving pools at Ponds Forge and athletics and team sport facilities at Sheffield Arena and the Don Valley Stadium.
