Architecture academics are hosting an international conference on the future of architectural technology at Sheffield Hallam University next week.

The International Conference for Architectural Technology (ICAT) 2013 will be held at the University on Friday 22 March. Practitioners and researchers will meet up to discuss issues such as sustainable building design, and the environmental challenges facing the industry.

Professor Norman Wienand, head of architecture and planning at Sheffield Hallam, is organising the conference, and will present his research into technical design in architecture.

He said: "Architectural technology as a discrete discipline is developing globally and it is really exciting and indeed a pleasure to host this conference at Sheffield Hallam University on behalf of the International Congress of Architectural Technology."

The conference will bring together more than 50 architectural technology professionals, teachers and researchers from Denmark, Holland, Ireland and the UK.
