Issued:15/06/11

Immersive theatre performances, award-winning wedding dresses, architectural designs for Kelham Island museum and a skeleton in a dress are just some of the unique and innovative creations on display at this year's Creative Spark exhibition.

Open to the public from Saturday 11 June, Sheffield Hallam University's Creative Spark 2011 is the city's biggest and most diverse exhibition, showcasing the finest work by the University’s final year creative students.

And for the first time this year fashion students will host a catwalk event on the opening night.

Director of Sheffield Institute of Arts at the University, Professor Chris Rust, said: "Creative Spark gives everyone the chance to experience some of Sheffield's best new creative talent, from the city's long-established institute for creative education at Sheffield Hallam University.

"The exhibition this year embraces an even wider range of subjects and even more venues. We're looking forward to welcoming fashion design students into the diverse melting pot that is Creative Spark.

"From fine art to engineering, in five venues in the heart of the city's Cultural Industries Quarter, Creative Spark is a very special fortnight in the city's calendar of events."

The cream of the University's fashion, photography, fine art, graphic design, performing arts, metalwork and jewellery, architecture and games animation courses are included in this year's exhibition.
