Jake is a senior lecturer in game development, who moved to academia after a career spanning 14 years in the videogames industry. During this time he worked on over 12 published games for the PlayStation 1 and 2, XBox, Gamecube and Nintendo DS. He has also written books on game development.

Jake is studio manager of Sheffield Hallam's in-house game studio Steel Minions. The studio is an official PlayStation minis developer and provides a commercially licensed environment for students to bring games to market through the PlayStation Network (PSN).
