With a background in tourism studies, Nicola has researched and taught since the 1990s. Her research interests include socio-cultural policy issues in tourism, tourism development in rural areas, destination image and the representation of place. She is the co-author of Royal Tourism: Excursions around Monarchy, a book that looks at the relationships between tourism and royalty, in response to claims that the Royal Family is good for tourism.
