Sheffield Hallam University encouraged graffiti for the first time this week when world renowned street artist and Sheffield Hallam graduate, Kid Acne, was invited to paint the walls of his former seat of learning at the Psalter Lane campus.
As a farewell gesture to mark this summer's closure of the Psalter Lane campus, Kid Acne spent two days creating a striking piece of art by painting directly onto four brick panels of the building's reception block.
Entitled You'll Miss Me when I'm Gone, the impressive, graffiti-style creation will remain in place until demolition starts at Psalter Lane later this year.
The street artist, designer and musician graduated from Sheffield Hallam with a BA (Honours) Fine Art (Combined and Media Art) in 2000. Since then, 'Ackers', as he is known, has gone on to design T-shirts for top fashion label Prada, release several cutting-edge hip-hop albums and even has his own brand of spray cans.
From September, students from Psalter Lane will move to new, purpose built and refurbished accommodation on the City Campus site, bringing students and staff from the Faculty of Arts, Computing, Engineering and Sciences onto the same site for the first time.
