This course provides an innovative and challenging experience for consultants, designers and planners working or intending to work in the international hospitality and food service industry. It improves your understanding and judgement, and your ability to communicate and operate effectively.

You study
• operations and quality systems in the hospitality and food service sectors
• the drivers of design systems and the nature and effect of design on customer experience
• the process of analysing an organisation's performance as set against industry trends
• hotel, restaurant and facilities design from an architects perspective
• the tools and structures to deal with various types of project
• the contractual, professional and ethical elements of the consultants role
• the nature of innovation and organisational change
• e-business strategy

We show you how to apply what you learn to your career, helping you plan, design and make decisions. You also develop a range of personal qualities that improve your effectiveness within the hospitality industry.

As part of this course you become affiliated to the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI). This gives you the opportunity to network with leaders in the industry, attend FCSI conferences and take part in FCSI local unit/chapter activities.

Attendance

Part-time – typically three years

There are two modules each semester in the first and second year, followed by the dissertation in the final year.

There is one induction study school which lasts four days. Each of the four semesters has one mid-semester study school lasting three days. There is one final study school at the start of the last semester.

Fees – home and EU students

2013/14 academic year

Typically £3,060 a year

Plus an additional £1,000 for affiliated membership of the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI), payable in year one.

Assessment

We assess each module by written assignment. You complete a dissertation to gain the MSc.
