This course is for anyone with a first degree in business or significant business experience who wants to develop their knowledge and competences in the field of operations, supply chains and logistics management in global markets.
You study contemporary theory and practice of supply chain and operations management, such as demand forecasting and supply planning, operations strategies, inventory control, logistics operations and sustainability. You also gain the knowledge to manage the flows within global supply chains such as designing a global supply chain network and the development of a relationship with overseas partners.
The course enables you to
• gain specialist skills to manage inventories, source and procure supplies, specify freight services and locate and manage distribution centres
• co-ordinate the activities and flows of information between suppliers, manufacturers, logistics service providers, retailers and consumers
As part of the course you gain general business skills, such as numerical, analytical and presentational skills, cross-culture communication skills and how to develop yourself as a manager and leader in a global context.
We use a variety of learning and teaching methods to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills. They include • formal lectures • seminars • workshops • problem solving exercises • case studies • individual and group presentations • directed learning activities.
You discuss the practices involved in managing global supply chains with experts from the industry, for example, UK Trade and Investment. You have the opportunity to work as a group on a consultancy project for a real life company. Companies we have worked with include the BBC Worldwide, Ilkley Brewery as well as local firms including Sportworks Logistics Ltd, Wheatley and Hall and Forgemasters.
The course offers a strategic, internationally focussed perspective on global supply chain management with real world projects, consultancy and opportunities to enhance your career.
