This subject knowledge enhancement course prepares you to start training as a secondary computing teacher. It will boost your experience and knowledge of the software used in schools and refresh or develop your programming skills. You will gain an understanding of the direction for the current secondary school (11-18) computing curriculum.
If you have either a information communication technology (ICT) degree or a computer science based background, the skills you gain on this course will benefit you moving forward into your teacher training.
Working towards teacher-training at Sheffield Hallam
This course helps prepare you to teach computing if you have been accepted onto either
• a PGCE course
• a school-centred programme of initial teacher training (SCITT)
• a graduate teacher programme (GTP)
Two week intense course
The course combines tutor-led sessions with small tutorials and supported self-study. Your sessions are delivered in a university setting and also include a session in school, which gives you a real-life teaching experience.
Full-time for two weeks from July 1 – July 11.
