About this course

This course is for anyone wishing to qualify as a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and develop a career in management accounting. The course aims to go beyond accounting. It develops your financial skills and knowledge to enable you to focus on the future success of your organisation rather than just assessing past performance.

You become skilled in preparing accounts and managing budgets. And as the course progresses we show you how to interpret financial and management information by applying advanced mathematical and statistical techniques. You study in detail the financial and legal environment in which business work. These include • banking • taxation • laws • regulatory frameworks for governing businesses in the UK and worldwide.

The CIMA 2010 Professional Qualification consists of three progressive levels, operational, management and strategic. Each level contains a paper from three learning pillars, enterprise, performance and financial.

The operations and management level papers can be sat concurrently but CIMA advise you to sit and pass the operations level before progressing to the management level papers. You must also pass all the papers at operations and management levels before you can sit the strategy level.

The final stage before you are accepted as a member of the Institute is the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting (T4) which consists of two parts
• you must show evidence of three years relevant practical work-based experience
• pass a case study exam where you apply your knowledge to a business problem

Our courses are run by experienced staff, many of whom have strong links with the Institute, and substantial experience of working in accountancy and associated professions. We have an established reputation for providing courses that prepare you for all stages of the CIMA examination.
