This course

This course is for people who already have an appropriate HND or foundation degree in an IT or computing-related area. You can use this course to gain an honours degree through one year of full-time study.

The focus of this course is on preventing cyber crime from occurring by designing secure networks and protecting applications.

It develops the knowledge and skills that you have already gained, and expands your expertise on a range of computing themes.

You develop
• your technical IT skills in areas such as databases and networks
• an awareness of professional issues
• the interpersonal skills you need to become an effective computing professional

You complete a dissertation and gain practical experience in a range of subjects.

Lectures and practical sessions take place at our City Campus where we have specialist computing laboratories as well as the library and multimedia resources available in the learning centre.

If you have successfully completed an HND/FdSc in forensic and security technologies or a similar course you may be able to progress to this degree.

We equip you to design, develop and implement computer-based systems and software.
