2014 entry requirements

GCSE English language and mathematics at grade C or above, plus one of the following

• successfully completing the equivalent of one year's full-time degree study in a relevant area, such as BTEC or HND/HNC, City and Guilds full technical certificate level 3, Open University 120 credits

• higher education credit accumulation and transfer scheme – 120 credits at level one in an area related to design and technology such as • engineering • product design • construction • electronics • ICT systems • materials • technology • practical arts

For entry in 2013 onwards there will be national pre-entry tests in literacy and numeracy.

If English is not your first language you need an IELTS average score of 6.5 with a minimum score of 5.5 in all skills.

Prior to your application, we highly recommend you visit a secondary school to gain an insight into contemporary approaches to teaching design and technology in the UK.
