What is business and human resource management?
In today’s fast moving knowledge economy, people are the key to competitive success. Human resource management is about developing policies, processes and management approaches to identify and develop human potential, and harness it to meet organisational goals.
This course
Study how organisations can succeed through the effective management of people on this career-focused course. You learn a broad range of core business skills including marketing, finance and law, enabling you to work in various business roles and areas. You also gain specialist knowledge of human resource management.
Your teaching team can offer you the latest insights into human resource management because they are engaged in cutting edge research and consultancy. Lecturers also work for large clients such as South Yorkshire Police, Fosters Bakery and Barnsley Primary Care Trust on coaching and mentoring, and knowledge transfer partnerships. This means that you learn from up-to-date cases and examples from the real world.
You get the chance to apply what you’ve learnt in year three with a paid work placement, designed to increase your industry knowledge, skills and employability. Due to our strong relationships with regional and national employers and the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development, we can offer you a range of excellent placement employers such as • Ronseal • Enterprise Rent-A-Car • Bosch • Janssen Cilag • Hewlett Packard • Metropolitan Police • Mercedes Benz.
If you do not complete a placement, you learn from other employment experiences in the work-based learning module.
