About this course
This course is ideal for international students wishing to advance their knowledge, skills and career prospects in business and finance. It enables you to convert your business, finance or accounting related HND or degree credits into an honours degree in business and finance.
The structure of this course is very flexible. You choose which modules to study according to your strengths, interests and career aims.
The range of modules on offer includes accounting financial management marketing international business foreign languages.
We emphasise developing practical skills and business understanding alongside academic knowledge. We teach through projects and case studies related to real life organisations and scenarios and current affairs.
You develop your skills and abilities in problem solving decision making numerical calculations and analysis negotiation research project management.
You also build on your analytical, communication and teamwork skills through a range of individual and group projects and presentations. These are core skills employers look for in graduates.
In the second year, you can complete an optional one year work placement in the UK or abroad. The placement gives you an insight into real organisations and allows you to put theory into practice. This experience can greatly benefit your final year studies and employability after graduation.
Associated careers
This course enables you to develop both foundation and specialist knowledge and skills in business and finance. It opens up many career opportunities in business areas such as accounting, finance, marketing or general management.
Past graduates have gone on to graduate training schemes in companies such as BP, BMW and Honda.
Some of our graduates go on to postgraduate studies, opening up further personal and professional development opportunities.
Course content
Year one modules
You study six modules in total. Choose three modules from lists A and B, and three modules from list C.

2014 entry requirements
Typically you need
120 year one credits with at least an overall merit from a relevant business HND, foundation degree or equivalent
or
120 year one credits with a minimum overall mark of 55 per cent from a relevant business degree
If English is not your first language you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, with a minimum score of 5.5 in each skill. If your English language skill is currently below IELTS 6.0 we recommend you consider a Sheffield Hallam University Pre-sessional English course which will enable you to achieve an equivalent English score.
We welcome applications from people of any age. There may be some flexibility in entry requirements provided you have other relevant learning or experience. This must show that you will benefit from and successfully finish the course.
