This course

This is a practical and vocational software development course, which lies in the broad area of computing. It provides you with an understanding of the key aspects of software development.

You gain practical and professional knowledge, insights and skills in developing software systems.

The course balances theory and practice to support the specification, design, implementation and evaluation of software-based systems for organisations and professional environments.

We focus on giving you the technical ability, together with the professional skills, needed in the workplace including • report writing • delivering presentations • teamwork • management.

You learn using the latest software engineering methods to build your practical skills and knowledge.

An important part of your academic study is based on professional development. This gives you an understanding of some of the legal, ethical and professional issues which face IT practitioners.

The modules for this course were developed following British Computer Society guidelines.
