`The teaching is of a high standard at Sheffield Hallam. There are six modules to complete on the course, which I think is well balanced, you can have both intensive training and spare time.
`The course has given me a basic understanding of management and finance in an international business context and has taught me methods of learning which has given me confidence in my ability to learn. The lecturers welcome comments and concerns, so that everyone has a voice.
`There are modern teaching facilities and all students have free access to the library, which is well equipped with up-to-date resources.
`The English language module on the course allowed us to practice basic skills with the help of the tutors. In addition, we could also learn English outside the class. A numbers of English training sessions were available in the TESOL Centre, free of charge. We talked and discussed questions in English with the tutors help. It was a good place to improve our English.'

'Studying at Sheffield Hallam was the first time I had studied abroad. It was a year full of exciting assignments, exams, hard work, deadlines, interesting events and joy.
'I studied international financial services in China and the business and finance course at Sheffield Hallam is very similar to that, so I thought it would be suitable for me.
'The lecturers are good and their classes were interesting. Black Board is an excellent internal network, really useful. I often used the Sheffield Hallam database to search for information that I could use in my assignments and presentations. There are many more journals, e-books and online articles than I thought. I was surprised how powerful it was when I first used it. There are also many different types of extra English classes for international students.
'Before I came to England, I booked the university pick-up service. The day I arrived at Manchester airport, students from the university gave me a warm welcome and called a car to take me to Sheffield.
'Usually, there is no difficulty making friends with people who are from the same country or culture. I tried to make friends from different cultures and countries because if all my friends in Sheffield are Chinese, then there is no difference between being in China or the UK. It is very interesting to know what their countries are like, what traditions they have, how to speak their languages etc.
'Choosing to live in Sheffield for a year was the best decision I ever made. The environment was great. I still remember the first time I went to the Peak District. I was attracted by the beautiful scenery. It's a wonderful place to go hiking, cycling and climbing. Also there are lots of gardens around the city centre. It’s very relaxing to read a book or drink coffee in the parks when the weather is good.
'I lived in the Pinnacles on Broad Street. The services they provide are great. All residents are students, mainly from Sheffield Hallam. It’s only 10-15mins walk from the Pinnacles to the university.
'My advice to students would be, try to use the resources and services the university gives you because they are very helpful. Go to the societies, attend events and activities, go out for parties, you’ll make lots of lovely friends and enjoy your life in Sheffield.'
