Radiotherapy in Practice 5 / Advanced Practice 2 - joint conference

The 5th Radiotherapy in Practice and 2nd Advanced Practice (Radiotherapy and Oncology) Conferences will be held in a joint event at Sheffield Hallam University in October 2010.

The Radiotherapy in Practice 5 Conference (RIP5) runs over two days - Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October 2010. The Advanced Practice (Radiotherapy and Oncology) 2 Conference (AP2) runs on Saturday 9 October 2010.

The conference is aimed at all health care professionals and students practicing in the field of radiotherapy and oncology.

The conference will explore key issues relating to advanced practice, technological advancements and innovation in radiotherapy, service user involvement and workforce imperatives, CPD as well as the education, professional development and research activities of practitioners.

The overarching conference theme is 'Making It Happen'.

The RIP5 conference themes are

  • innovation in practice
  • workforce development
  • technical advances
  • education and training
  • research and audit
  • service user involvement
  • site specific focus - breast and prostate (this does not exclude submissions on other sites/diseases within the other themes above)

The AP2 conference themes are

  • definition of and philosophical approaches to advanced practice
  • sharing experience (internationally) of advance practice roles and working
  • education and training for advanced practice
  • barriers and enablers for advanced practice
  • managing and developing a service incorporating advanced practitioners

Abstracts of presented papers and posters will be published in the Journal of Radiotherapy in Practice. Delegates will be given free access to the September issue, in which conference abstracts are published.

We are seeking the submission of proffered papers and poster presentations for the conference. Abstracts submitted should relate to the conference themes.
