About the Centre
The Centre for Education and Inclusion Research (CEIR) is part of Sheffield Hallam University's research base, within the Faculty of Development and Society, and is an amalgamation of the former Centre for Education Research and Centre for Social Inclusion.
The vast majority of our work is in the areas of children and young people, and education and skills. The inclusion agenda cuts across all our work, and allows us to extend our focus and build on strengths beyond the central area of our work.
Most of our educational research is with policy makers, practitioners, teacher educators and leaders and managers, to help deliver best practice in the field of education through theoretically grounded research, evaluation and consultancy.
The Centre offers extensive experience of educational research involving key stakeholders at national, regional and local levels, including central government, Local Education Authorities (LEAs) and multi agency staff, teachers, pupils and parents.
We have significant evaluation expertise in the design and implementation of a range of research methods and methodologies.
This research has been combined with our recognised track record in the fields of gender and equalities, sexualities and health (including specialist work with young people) and carers and care workers.
