Tim is a professor of education management and a member of the leadership team of the Centre for Education and Inclusion Research. He has more than 25 years experience of teaching and researching leadership and management in education. He is a former chair, and currently honorary secretary of the British Educational Leadership Management and Administration Society.

Tim has designed, managed and contributed to a wide range of CPD programmes for education leaders and managers in the UK and overseas and has acted as a consultant to a number of international development agencies in the designing and evaluation of management development programme and the development and evaluation of resourcing systems. He has also led and participated in a range of research and evaluation projects for government agencies. He has a particular interest in the interface between national policy and institutional management, organisational and resource management issues in schools and colleges, evaluation of leadership development programmes and educational leadership in developing countries. He has published widely in these areas.

Recent research projects include evaluations of a number of the programmes for the National College for Leadership of Schools and Children's Services and evaluation of the Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) Testbed project on developing the whole school workforce.
