Centre for International Tourism Research (CITouR)

The ambition for CITouR is to focus on research, consultancy and training that makes a real difference to communities, tourists and people working in the tourism industry.

These ambitions seek to build on our key research and consultancy strengths in the following areas

  • tourism policy and planning which ensures that communities benefit from tourism development
  • sustainable tourist destination management
  • marketing strategy development for the tourism industry
  • tourist behaviour, identities and social equity in tourism participation
  • best industry practice in the implementation of responsible tourism
  • capacity building through innovative education and training
  • quality management and tourist satisfaction

Already one of the largest and most renowned centres of tourism research and education in Europe, CITouR aims to continue to grow and develop its global reputation as a centre of excellence.

We also have an international network of individual and institutional partners and are always happy to talk to potential partners about opportunities for co-operation.
