Aimee Walshaw is a Research Fellow at CRESR where she has worked for the last three and a half years. During this time Aimee has worked on a diverse range of research projects in the fields of housing, immigration and the voluntary and community sector. Aimee has a particular interest in the related areas of sustainable housing and housing modernisation and as authored several peer reviewed publictions on these topics. She has recently managed a major evaluation of a housing modernisation programme, the largest of its kind in the UK, to a successful conclusion and is currently managing an ESRC funded study exploring user perspectives in low energy housing. An addition to this Aimee is currently working, inter alia, on a major evaluation of reforms to the Local Housing Allowance for the Department for Work and Pensions and a programme of research looking at the impact of recession in Northern Ireland for the Office of the First and Deputy First Minister. Aimee also has expertise in the use of social media in the research process and has successfully used photography, film and web-based data to generate and validate research findings.
Aimee is also a qualified town planner and practiced as a planner in Local Government for three years prior to joining CRESR. During this time Aimee was instrumental in the delivery of the Housing Market Renewal programme designed to support the development of sustainable communities across South Yorkshire and oversaw the development of several major masterplanning projects and redevelopment schemes.
She is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
