Chris Dayson

Chris Dayson is a research associate in the Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research. Much of Chris's research focuses on the third sector and he has recently completed an Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)- funded Third Sector Placement Fellowship exploring the impact of the personalisation policy agenda on third sector service providers. In the past year he has also been involved in research for the Big Lottery Fund, the National Association of Voluntary and Community Organisations (NAVCA), and various other national and local third sector organisations.

Chris has previously worked as a researcher and policy analyst in the third sector (for Voluntary Action Rotherham) and central government (for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office). He has experience in a range of quantitative and qualitative techniques including survey research, charity account analysis, and social return on investment (SROI) analysis.

Within CRESR, Chris is part of the social and economic regeneration team and the data and policy team. He is also a member of the University-wide interdisciplinary Centre for Voluntary Sector Research.

  • the effectiveness local level third sector activity
  • social investment
