The Centre for Sport and Exercise Science offers a variety of lifestyle services including wellness programmes, short courses and programme evaluation. Our team of experts includes accredited physiologists, psychologists, biomechanists and nutritionists, who have a wealth of experience in this area enabling them to provide a high quality holistic service.

The Centre recognises that every organisation is different, with its own unique make-up, resources and overall health strategy. Programmes are tailored to the client, with services available from either the University wellness clinic or a venue of your choice.

The Centre has provided wellness services to a variety of both local and national businesses. A typical corporate wellness programme consists of

  • assessment of your current health-care provision
  • a survey of your employees' views and experiences about wellness initiatives at work
  • implementation of the wellness programme, reflecting your company's structure, ethos and financial resources.

A typical wellness programme includes

  • lifestyle analysis
  • feedback sessions
  • motivation and goal-setting sessions
  • exercise and lifestyle drop-in clinics
  • short course and workshops on aspects of wellness, e.g. exercise adherence and stress management. The programme can focus on a specific aspect of health, including giving up smoking or increasing physical activity.
  • follow-up: After a given period, employees are reassessed to allow changes in wellness to be measured. This is important for your company and your employees as it forms an important motivational tool for continued adherence to the wellness programme.
  • evaluation: The Centre is firmly committed to the concept of continuous improvement. Regular evaluation and development is therefore an important feature of all our corporate wellness programmes

Wellness assessments

The Centre is also available for individuals or groups who wish to have a wellness assessment and advice. Again the exact content of this service can be tailored to your own specific needs.
