Welcome to the Centre for Voluntary Sector Research
The Centre for Voluntary Sector Research (CVSR) at Sheffield Hallam University is an inter-disciplinary centre linking research staff in various parts of the university. All members have a specific interest in voluntary and community organisations, or the voluntary sector and voluntary activity more generally.
The work of CVSR includes a wide range of research for external clients - typically voluntary sector infrastructure bodies or public sector clients wishing to commission independent studies of the work of the sector. Most of this is done on an inter-disciplinary basis.
Our research teams typically include specialists from social policy, management, statistical research, law, accounting, information systems, geography, economics and other fields. We also have several PhD students working on voluntary sector issues, and offer taught programmes in the field of charity studies.
The centre is led by Professor Gareth Morgan who is Professor of Charity Studies and a specialist in charity law and regulation - however the CVSR also includes specialists in many other aspects of the work of the third sector.
