Research and consultancy
CVSR members, through their host faculties and centres, lead major programmes of research and consultancy for clients. Our research work for external clients ranges from short intense projects on highly focussed issues to long term evaluation projects covering many years.
All CVSR staff have in depth knowledge of voluntary sector issues, and most projects are undertaken by an inter-disciplinary team.
Recent clients for whom research has been led by CVSR members include
The Association of Charity Independent Examiners
We are working with ACIE to provide ongoing research and advice on policy issues in relation to the latest developments in charity law, and a specific study on the use of receipts and payments accounts in small charities. Project leader: Professor Gareth Morgan
- The Cabinet Office (Office of the Third Sector)
A major five year evaluation of the Government's Futurebuilders programmes which provides loan finance to
voluntary organisations providing public services. This evaluation is exploring the impact of Futurebuilders model of engaged funding has on the capacity of the voluntary and community sector to deliver public services. Project leader: Professor Peter Wells
- The Finance Hub
One of the Government's key delivery consortia for the ChangeUp agenda on infrastructure support to VCS. Key projects have focused on the strategic future for Community Accountancy Services, and Funding Advice Networks. Both led by Professor Gareth Morgan
- The National Association for Voluntary and Community Action (NAVCA)
CVSR has worked with NAVCA for many years, on projects such ranging from The Role of Councils for Voluntary Service in Social Inclusion (2001), a study on Building Effective Local Voluntary Infrastructure, and a current evaluation of NAVCA's Local Commissioning and Procurement Unit, led by Dr Tracey Chadwick-Coule
Within the structures of the University, CVSR projects are accounted for under the faculty or department of the person leading the project, with staff from other parts of the university brought in as required. The name of the project leader in each case indicates the faculty or centre where the project is based - more details on the staff pages.
