Current work

I am a scriptwriter and theatre director teaching the MA in script writing at Sheffield Hallam and marking novel. Successful MA tutees include Sharon Oakes who has sold numerous radio plays, and has been a regular contributor to the TV Series 'Doctors'.

My academic research interest is the theory and practice of creative writing composition and this forms the basis of my PhD research.

Research collaborations

Writer in residence at HMP Wakefield 1994-5, University College Cork 1997, and The Lemon Tree Arts Centre Aberdeen 2002-4. Work for the British Council developing young writers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2004) and Kano, Nigeria (2008).
