Chair of Cartrefi Cymru with trustees and senior managersThe Centre for Health and Social Care Research is an inter-dependent learning and research community. Our evolving collaborations go beyond the production of reports and publications.

We aim to publicise and share our learning with the people who are the focus of our work, with family care-givers, health and social care personnel and managers seeking to become more person-focused by contributing to

  • external conferences as invited keynote presenters in USA, Australia, Asia and Europe. Members of the Centre have presented keynote sessions at international and national conferences addressing inter alia palliative care provision, practice and workforce development, interdisciplinary learning, and midwifery; and the circumstances and experiences of people throughout the life course - BME communities, older people, care-givers, people with mental health problems, and with learning disabilities.
  • seminar series national and local addressing poverty and health; ethical issues in health research, and a broader programme looking at race, ethnicity, well-being and society. The Centre's ongoing and concluded research activities, and those of our students, feature in a monthly programme.
  • networks including: the Social Care Institute for Excellence Partners' Council; Sheffield Health and Social Care Research Consortium; Research Ethics and Governance Committees in Sheffield and Rotherham; the Sheffield Regional Physiotherapy Research Hub - part of the National Physiotherapy Research Network (NPRN); the Association of Professors of Social Work; the Association for the Advancement of Social Work with Groups (AASWG) USA; European Groupwork Symposium; and with users and family care-givers in Yorkshire and beyond consistently enhance the work of the Centre.
