Angela is currently employed as a reader in health and social care research and is the lead for the inequalities, inclusion and public health theme in the CHSCR. Her research and expertise lies predominantly in qualitative research, including mixed method studies. Research interests and experience fall into the following themes

- service development and evaluation
Angela is currently principal investigator for a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research for Patient Benefit project to explore factors influencing Keeping Warm in Later Life (the KWILLT project). She is currently developing and expanding this programme of work to include other aspects of fuel poverty, cold weather and health. Other recent projects have focused on reducing diagnostic delay and health service access. Projects include exploring delay in diagnosis of lung cancer. Evaluations include studies of an early warning scoring system in acute care, evaluation of a smoke free homes initiative, public engagement in health care commissioning, nutrition of oncology patients in an acute setting, nurse's role and experience of breaking bad news.
Angela is involved in two of the themes from the Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care, South Yorkshire (CLAHRC SY). She is leading the qualitative arm of the obesity theme along with the co-production activities. In addition she is a member of the Health Inequalities theme management group.
Angela has also been working with national groups and professional bodies to develop research into the mesothelioma patient experience and care needs and is chair of the National Lung Cancer Forum for Nurses Research Interest Group.
