Julian is the Knowledge Transfer Champion for the South Yorkshire Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (SY-CLAHRC).
He assists the consortium partners to undertake a variety of knowledge transfer activities within the thematic areas and works with them, helping to identify and progress new opportunities. Julian is particularly interested in working with the CLAHRC member organisations to address their key business objectives through the involvement of private/public sector partnerships and to increase the rate and effectiveness of the adoption of new technologies and improvements in service delivery.
Julian comes to CLAHRC from the University of Leeds where he was assistant director at the Cancer Research UK Clinical Research Centre and contributed to the management of major university projects. Prior to this he was the commercial manager for the Centre for Stem Cell Biology at the University of Sheffield, where he was responsible for securing external funding and the management of major facilities development projects.
Julian has a background in research and has a PhD in molecular biology. He has worked as a lecturer at the University of Sheffield and has operated at the academic-private sector interface for a number of years in relation to both his own research involvement and during subsequent periods spent in technology transfer roles.
