Chris Sammon graduated from Hull with a degree in Chemistry and an MSc in Analytical Science.

Having worked for a year as an analytical chemist for Yorkshire Water, he moved back into academia to conduct a PhD in polymer spectroscopy within MERI under the tutelage of Professor Jack Yarwood, and now combines the roles of consultancy manager with academic research within the same institution.

He lists research interests as controlled release from polymer matrices, polymer degradation, mapping and imaging of polymer formulations, polymer gelation, chemometric data analysis and innovative vibrational spectroscopy.

His current projects involve (i) the chemical modification and characterisation of polymer surfaces, (ii) studying the diffusion properties of PVOH, (iii) monitoring the effects of gamma irradiation on pharmaceutical formulations and (iv) determining the role of water in the gelation of cellulose ethers.

All of Chris's papers can be accessed at SHURA.
